March 18, 2020 – Glenhaven, Inc. located in Glenwood City, WI, is actively preparing for possible cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19). While the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is on the rise, much about the virus is still unknown. We do know that the population we serve – older persons with underlying medical conditions – are at greater risk for the most serious forms of infection associated with this new disease.

“The health of our residents and the caregiving teams who support them is our main priority,” said Sherry Goodman, Administrator. “We are staying up-to-date of the latest information from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WDHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as working with state and local public health and emergency preparedness officials to strengthen our preparation for a possible outbreak of Coronavirus.”

Glenhaven is also educating staff, residents and families on symptom awareness for COVID-19 and have clear protocols for staff to stay home and not come to work if they are ill or symptomatic. “We also restricted entrance to our facility; no visitors, vendors and others who are not essential to providing resident/tenant care are allowed to enter at this time.  Our childcare center remains open. However, we are no longer allowing children to leave Little Acorns Learning Center for intergenerational activities. We are also screening all employees, families, and children to monitor for fever and signs and symptoms of a respiratory illness, and inquiring about travel history. These precautions are vital to helping us avoid and minimize the possible spread of this virus,” said Sherry Goodman, Administrator.  Families can stay informed by regularly visiting the official coronavirus websites of the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization. For facility updates please visit Glenhaven Inc. on Facebook.

Glenhaven, Inc. has alternatives and exceptions for visits.  Should a visitor have an urgent or emergent need to visit a resident on Glenhaven campus, some exceptions may be made for the following: acute health care and emotional support of a resident family member or death of a resident family member.  Glenhaven has prepared options for alternative visits for visitors who are not permitted entry to our community’s campus. We will be offering virtual visits through apps like FaceTime and Skype. These apps are available for free download on your computer, iPad or smartphone.  Keep in mind that a telephone call or a letter is also a great form of communication. We also encourage other forms of creative communication. Our staff will be available to assist residents with all virtual visits. Please call ahead to schedule a time to do so.

We thank you for your cooperation and support during this current emergency health situation. Together, we can help keep the people we serve healthy and well.

"We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the wonderful care our dad received while a resident at Glenhaven. Everyone played an important part in helping to ease the transition of moving from his home. The quality of care he received was impeccable!"
